New Nokia phones meet demand for durability and affordability

Finnish mobile company HMD Global, exclusive licensee of the Nokia phone and tablet brand, is meeting growing demand for more affordable, longer lasting smartphones with the launch of six new Nokia devices.

In a global survey commissioned to support the launch, 69% of consumers agreed that smartphones are too expensive and 81% said they want them to last longer.

According to the report, two thirds of Brits change their phones every three years or sooner. One in two (50%) worries about the environmental impact of frequent upgrades, with 38% expressing concern about the volume of electronic waste produced.

More than three quarters (78%) of UK respondents said they would keep their phone for longer if it maintained performance over time.

HMD Global says it is addressing these concerns with the Nokia X20/X10 (top of the range), Nokia G20/G10 (intermediate) and Nokia C20/C10 (entry-level) phones. All feature strong security, superior durability and regular software updates to maintain performance.

Stephen Taylor, CMO of HMD Global, said: “These products are built to last inside and out, thanks to our upgrade promises and superior durability.”

The new products are also claimed to be offer exceptional value, especially the C-series, which has a starting price of just €75.

HMD Global also announced that it is becoming a mobile virtual network operator with the launch of the HMD Mobile network in the UK this month.
