Choice of connection
Canon’s first desktop scanner with USB, wired and wireless connectivity, the imageFORMULA DR-S150 is a flexible, compact solution for personal or shared use in customer-facing environments and corporate, branch and home offices. With one-touch scanning for pre-configured jobs, throughput of 90 images per minute and the ability to ‘push scan’ to an output destination (without a PC connection), the DR-S150 helps streamline business workflows. Useful features include a 60-sheet automatic document feeder, the ability to scan passports and plastic ID cards and a colour LCD touchscreen.
Pull to scan
Reel is a new ‘pull-to-scan’ wearable for environments with low-frequency barcode scanning requirements, such as quality control and product returns. The 89 euro device works with all MARK series scanners and is quickly accessible via a lanyard or belt clip. As soon as its 70 cm Aramid thread is pulled, Reel triggers the scan engine, enabling workers to scan items within their reach, without having to carry a heavy, bulky pistol scanner. Customisable attachment positions ensure there is no contact with sensitive items.
Security to the core
Dynabook Europe has become one of the first vendors to bring Windows 10 Secured-core PCs to market. Developed with Microsoft, they offer the highest level of integrated hardware, software and identity protection out-of-the-box. The three-pronged defence includes hardware-based security components, such as Trusted Platform Module 2.0 (TPM), virtualisation-based security (VBS) and Windows Dynamic hypervisor code integrity (HVCI); super-strength biometric multifactor authentication, including face, fingerprint, secure FIDO2 key and PIN authentication; and offline protection through BitLocker Drive Encryption to protect user data. Dynabook’s Secured-core PCs include the Portégé X30-F, Tecra X40-F and Tecra X50-F.
Raising the bar
Poly has unveiled two all-in-one video bars purpose-built to run Microsoft Teams natively. Designed for small huddle rooms and requiring a single PoE cable, the Poly Studio X30 and Poly Studio X50 feature a 4K HD camera with speaker tracking and framing, advanced noise suppression and the Poly TC8 touch screen controller. Poly is also bringing out native Teams phones, speakerphones and managed services for Teams, encompassing migration strategies, endpoint and licence provisioning, deployment, training and change management.
Flex to fit
The new Flex 5150 appliance from Veritas extends data protection to the network edge by bringing the company’s enterprise backup solution, NetBackup, to branch and remote offices with limited space and IT resources. Integrating with NetBackup in the core data centre and the cloud, the Flex 5150 protects and restores data at the edge, where it is created and centralises remote management, with automated policies to reduce risk and ensure consistent protection.
At your service
PFU (EMEA) Ltd, the scanning division of Fujitsu, is targeting front-desk environments with a compact passport, ID and document scanner that enables customer-facing staff in banks, hotels and hospitals to carry out all scanning tasks on one device. PFU claims that as well as saving time the fi-800R can help with GDPR compliance as important documents, such as passports, can be scanned in front of the customer rather than out of sight in a back office. With a space-saving U-turn paper path, the fi-800R takes up as little space as half an A4 sheet.
