Airthings has launched what it claims is the first Bluetooth-connected, battery-operated indoor air quality monitor to detect radon. This colourless, odourless gas formed by the radioactive decay of small amounts of uranium that occur naturally in rocks and soils is the biggest cause of lung cancer amongst non-smokers. Although the radon level in air is very low, it can rise to high levels when trapped indoors. The Airthings Wave Plus smart radon, CO2 and TVOC detector (with temperature, humidity and air pressure sensors) provides instant indication of air quality via a motion-activated, colour-coded light (red, amber, green). More detail is available from a web dashboard and accompanying app, including real-time and historical measurements of radon, VOCs and CO2. The Airthings Wave Plus is available from Airthings.com or Amazon for £239.
No plug-ins needed
C4B Com For Business has enhanced the collaboration capabilitie of its XPhone Connect UC platform with a new Web-Meeting function that gives users the ability to share their screen with remote participants via a browser, with no need for plug-ins. To participate in a meeting, a guest just clicks on an emailed invitation link (created in the host’s Outlook/Notes calendar or spontaneously in the XPhone client) and enters their name and email address. During the web meeting, guests can see the host’s screen, interact via chat and dial into an audio conference. An Active Speaker function shows the name of the person speaking.
