The first thing I would like to do this month is thank
the judging panel of our inaugural Technology Reseller Awards for the time they so generously donated to the cause. Reading entries and supporting material, perhaps doing some research on the side and working out a fair score for each submission is not an easy task. Nor is it a quick one.

I must also thank you, our readers, for taking part in the awards that were decided by public vote. They wouldn’t mean anything without your participation and your
votes gave them real validity. So thank you. You can find shortlists for all the 2022 Technology Reseller Awards on pages 16 and 17.

There’s much more to see in this issue, but one thing that arrived too late for inclusion in our news pages was the announcement that Kaseya is to acquire Datto, another provider of automation, software and security solutions purpose-built for managed service providers. I recently and separately interviewed both Tim Weller, CEO of Datto, and Mike Puglia, Chief Strategy Officer at Kaseya (featured in last month’s issue). Neither gave any hint that an acquisition was imminent, athough Mike Puglia did make a point of saying that MSPs had too many tools and would gain efficiencies by consolidating them and dealing with fewer suppliers, adding that Kaseya’s goal was to provide MSPs with everything they might need, so perhaps I should have guessed.
