In May, Nimans took resellers on ‘a journey of discovery’ with UC device manufacturer Yealink and tech giant Microsoft at a special insight event about future collaboration trends
A Yealink and Microsoft ‘discovery session’ took place at Microsoft’s UK HQ in Reading, where dozens of attendees learned about Yealink’s technology and growing partnership with Microsoft, as well as hearing from industry experts.
Visitors saw the latest Microsoft ‘Intelligent Communications’ compatible products in action and met various teams including senior personnel from Yealink who flew in from China. They also had the chance to win Yealink’s new VC200 huddle video conferencing solution and a CP960 audio conferencing device.
Microsoft’s Intelligent Communications Marketing Manager Kerri Hollis outlined the future of collaboration in which Microsoft’s Teams platform is taking centre stage.
She revealed how the modern workplace is changing, with five generations of workers needing to work together seamlessly, using multiple devices, and with 72% of people working remotely some of the time (by 2020). She added that around 80% of people’s time is spent collaborating with others and that the average person checks their devices 150 times each day, searching on 8-10 applications.
Guests also heard about Yealink’s global pedigree. With worldwide sales of 15 million products to date, Yealink offers a phone for every scenario, including an enhanced video conferencing portfolio featuring the VC800, VC500 and VC200 devices. Its WPP20 wireless content sharing dongle was also showcased.
Nimans used the occasion to publicise its Compendium IP endpoint management proposition, which it has developed to help resellers win, deliver and support business.
The event concluded with a reseller’s account of the challenges and opportunities thrown up by the latest communications trends. Randy Chapman from MeetingZone explained how it is vital for resellers to focus on the user experience as the best way to generate sales of new technology, and how Yealink helps him do that.
The discovery session was hailed as a resounding success by one Winchester-based reseller who said: “I was interested in the new product ranges particularly around UC collaboration. Today’s event has been a very valuable experience particularly around Microsoft Teams and Yealink’s continued research and development. This gives me the confidence and knowledge to take our own business further forward.”
A Manchester-based reseller added: “It was great to meet people first hand, see the technology and learn about the plans for future. Such a top event.”
Yealink conference systems
Easy content sharing
WPP20 is a wireless presentation pod that connects with Yealink’s video conferencing system to provide easy content sharing. The dongle plugs into a laptop’s USB port and shares content at the click of a button, using its self-built 5G WiFi network. The device supports up to eight simultaneous connections, as well as four content screens that can be presented on the main screen simultaneously.
Yealink’s VC series of video conferencing endpoints has a solution for every size of meeting room, with an all-in-one design incorporating codec and camera for easy deployment. These include the:
VC200 for small meeting rooms and huddle rooms. An Ultra HD 4K camera supports 4x digital zoom and e-PTZ with a 103-degree horizontal field of view. Six builtin beam-forming microphone arrays focus in on the speaker for excellent sound quality;
VC500 for small and medium-sized meeting rooms. This features a wide-angle lens with an 83-degree horizontal field of view, which ensures everyone is visible during the meeting, and a 1080P60 and 5X optical PTZ camera. The VC500 can be installed on top of a TV or display with just one network cable;
VC800 for medium and large meeting rooms. Offering multi-party video and audio collaboration, this solution can connect up to 24 sites with HD video and two virtual meeting rooms. The solution includes a touchscreen conference phone with a Harmon Kardon speaker; a Full-HD PTZ camera; and 2 DECT wireless expansion microphones.
The CP960 is an enterprise-grade conference phone for mid-sized and large meeting rooms. Featuring a combination of Harmon acoustic engineering and Yealink’s own HD voice and noise cancellation technologies, the conference phone delivers clear and balanced audio. A 20-foot, 360 degree, deadzone-free voice pickup ensures everyone is heard clearly. When using a mobile phone or PC-based softphone, like Skype for Business, calls can be routed directly to the CP960 over a USB port or Bluetooth.
