Barracuda Networks, Inc., a provider of cloud-enabled security solutions, is entering the fast growing XDR (extended detection and response) market with the acquisition of SKOUT Cybersecurity, a Melville, NY-based leader in cyber-as-a-service software for Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
The definitive agreement to buy SKOUT further strengthens Barracuda’s security solution portfolio, following last year’s acquisition of Zero Trust Access provider Fyde.
Key additions include an XDR platform optimised for MSPs that offers real-time security monitoring and response services for email, firewall, identity and access, supported by a 24×7 SOC for analysis and response.
Brian Babineau, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Barracuda MSP, said that access to these solutions were a great opportunity for MSPs to develop their security-centric operations without the training and staffing overheads of running their own XDR platform or SOC.
He said: “MSPs must be able to protect their customers’ end users, their devices and the data they are accessing with these devices against increasingly sophisticated threats. To achieve this level of protection for their customers and themselves, MSPs are transforming their businesses into ’security-centric’ operations. The addition of SKOUT enables Barracuda’s MSP partners to deploy security solutions across their environments, connecting their data feeds into a unified, 24×7 operation for swift analysis and response.”
Aidan Kehoe, Co-founder of SKOUT, added: “We have been focused on building the best XDR and cyber platform for MSPs and plan to continue doing so faster and better with Barracuda. With Barracuda’s resources, we will have incredible access to threat intelligence, R&D and support to build a greater XDR product and better serve our partners and the MSP community in EMEA and around the world.”
The acquisition is anticipated to close this month, subject to required regulatory and third-party consents and satisfaction of closing conditions.
