Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th June 2022, Microsoft, London
EEMA today announced the programme for its 35th Annual Conference, which this year will bring together members of the European Commission, heads of business and technology innovators, to advance the digital single market across the EU. Taking place at Microsoft in London on 8th and 9th June 2022, the conference will focus on the roll-out digital identity wallets and impact of proposed changes to eIDAS regulation, issues of data sovereignty and decentralised identity, as well as updates on EU-fund projects – DE4A, GLASS and LOCARD.
Chair of EEMA, Jon Shamah states: “The EEMA Annual Conference takes place at a pivotal time in the formation of the digital single market. In just 18 months it planned that every EU citizen will be able have access to a digital identity wallet on their smart devices. The ambition is for these wallets to replace the physical credentials, currently needed to work, live, and travel within the EU.” Shamah adds: “There is still much to be done from a technology and policy perspective if the September 2023 target is to be met and at our conference, we are bringing those who can affect positive progress, from across the public and private sector together.”
Speakers confirmed for EEMA’s 35th Annual Conference include representatives from the European Commission and DGCONNECY; Carmine Auletta, Chief Strategy Officer, InfoCert Group; Dave Birch, Author, Advisor & Commentator on Digital Financial Services; John Erik Setsaas, VP Identity & Innovation, Signicat; Joran Frik, Manager, Risk Advisory, Cyber Risk, Deloitte and Katinka Jussie Brurberg BankID BankAxept AS.
The introduction of new identity business models requires a debate on security issues and the EEMA Annual Conference will bring together Dr Jacqui Taylor, CEO, FlyingBinary, and panel that includes Andy Pardoe, Founder & Group CEO, Wisdom Works Group, University of Warwick, and Stuart Aston, NSO at Microsoft, who will consider the role of artificial intelligence.
Attendees at the EEMA Annual Conference will have the opportunity to learn about the progress that is being made across three major EU-funded projects. Digital Europe for All (DE4A), is a three-year Member State-driven project that is supporting the Single Digital Gateway Regulation across Europe and helping to make the digital single market a reality. GLASS is providing a distributed framework for sharing common services of public administrations across the EU for citizens, businesses, and governments. Finally, LOCARD is creating a comprehensive management approach to the handling digital evidence, alleviating many issues of current art and practice. It is doing so by building a trusted distributed platform for chain of custody assurance along the forensic workflow.
Shamah concludes: “This is the must attend event this year, for any organisation that wants to have influences in shaping the future of how citizens, businesses and governments interact and transact with each other.”
The EEMA 35th Annual Conference 2022 is sponsored by Microsoft and InfoCert who will be exhibiting at the conference alongside EEMA project partners. Registration is open now.
