There’s much excitement at Northamber with the recent news that the distributor now offers AV solutions from Vivitek, a leading manufacturer of visual display and presentation solutions. Unique to Vivitek’s product line is the Novo Ecosystem, a cost-effective, versatile family of wireless collaboration and digital signage solutions designed to meet the diverse and evolving needs of businesses, retailers, healthcare providers, educational establishments and the public sector organisations. No wonder Northamber’s eager to tell us more!
Vivitek launched to the market at ISE 2009. Since then, beyond its initial range of projection devices it expanded rapidly to now offer solutions that truly maximise the interaction and use of any display device, while driving productivity and collaboration across a multitude of settings. The power behind the now respected brand, is leading Taiwanese technology manufacturer Delta Electronics. Founded in 1971, Delta is a global provider of switching power supplies and thermal management products. It has a further feather in its cap, as the company is an OEM manufacturer for well-known professional AV manufacturers. One of the leading manufacturers in the world by turnover, Delta Electronics launched Vivitek in order to create its own global AV/signage brand and to develop the technology it has been designing, manufacturing and supplying on an OEM basis since 2011.
Distribution by Northamber
To broaden its market reach in the AV and IT channel, Vivitek sales manager, Greg Mack, recently appointed Northamber as its primary UK distribution partner. As a leading independent distributor of AV products and signage, Northamber already supplies presentation technology to resellers and installers across the UK, making it an excellent fit for Vivitek and its ambitious future plans.
The addition of the Vivitek brand to Northamber’s portfolio gives the distributor’s customers access to a complete range of presentation and digital signage products, including projectors and full display solutions with wireless collaboration and signage built in (touchscreen and non-touchscreen). In addition to this, Vivitek offers a suite of wireless collaboration and digital signage add-on solutions for use with existing displays.
Vivitek users in meeting rooms benefit from easy wireless collaboration and digital signage, backed up by a consistent user experience from any device – be it a laptop, iPad, smartphone, Android, Windows or iOS-run device, thanks to the cross-platform mirroring ability that’s engineered in. Vivitek has thought about IT and facility managers, too; with Vivitek’s solution, they can rest assured that the remote management and network integration will not add to their workload and that data security is set to the most stringent levels. Resellers, meanwhile, benefit from the AV/IT integration that’s happening in the market and filtering through to the meeting room; they can use Vivitek’s extensive range to strengthen customer relationships and develop additional sales opportunities by addressing customers’ evolving (and ever more complex) requirements, with an economical and versatile eco-system of AV software and devices.
Vivitek’s product offering includes visual display hardware, wireless collaboration and digital signage. The NovoConnect Ecosystem brings all three together with a choice of four implementation options to suit customers’ replacement or renewal needs.
1. Wireless collaboration add-on.
Available in a variety of models for education and corporate applications, add-on devices can be retro-fitted to any projector or display, giving users the ability to share content wirelessly with one or more screens, from a laptop or smartphone, for collaboration or digital signage applications (dependent on model). All devices connect using the same simple steps, with connection options including direct mirroring, the NovoConnect app, the Launchnovo.com web browser, or the LauncherPlus USB dongle.
2. All-in-one solutions.
Vivitek produces a range of all-in-one devices with the convenience of NovoConnect collaboration functionality built in. These include the NovoProjector (100-300in, 4500 ANSI Lumens, lamp or laser based model), the NovoDisplay (43-75in, non-interactive), the NovoTouch (65-86in, interactive touch panel, with built-in videoconferencing) and the NovoWall (LED wall for high brightness and large sizes displays up to 220in). The three display products also include digital signage functionality, with seamless transition between wireless collaboration (screen sharing, annotation, moderation) and digital signage modes when the meeting/collaboration session is over or before it starts.
3. LauncherPlus for guest laptop connectivity.
This plug-and-play USB device enables any guest or team member to connect instantly to a NovoConnect device from a Windows or Mac PC/laptop without the need to install the NovoConnect app.
4. Digital signage add-on.
These add-on NovoDS devices transform any display into a digital signage display enabling businesses, schools/colleges, retailers and healthcare and public sector organisations to share and manage public announcements and other content on any connected screen (wired or wirelessly) throughout an organisation; that could range from the reception area to the boardroom, huddle rooms and cafeteria.
Andy Sharp (AV Product Specialist) at Northamber says that by offering a choice of wireless collaboration products, Vivitek is able to meet the needs of a wide range of customers, from those with high end boardrooms to cost-conscious public sector customers.
He gives the example of the NC-X300 add-on wireless meeting solution, which is ready to go straight out of the box and wirelessly connects any device to the central display (including guests’ devices with the included plug and play LauncherPlus). It is very easy to use and, with a price tag of £490, it is half the price of comparable competitor products.
“The beauty of the NC-X300 collaboration solution is that it plugs into the back of whatever screen you already have and starts working instantly. It is instant plug-and-play, with no hurdles to overcome. It doesn’t need to be on the network, as it communicates in hotspot mode directly to the user’s wireless device or the prepared LauncherPlus. Once you’ve pressed the button, it beams directly from the laptop onto the screen,” Andy said.
He argues that such simple connectivity and collaboration makes the NC-X300 ideal for public sector organisations, especially hospitals; they may not want to have their screens on the network in order to negate the risk of someone could logging in and posting unsolicited videos on a waiting room display, for example.
Andy expands on this and adds that security is key in the design of the Vivitek Novo Eco-system.
“The Launcher and the Collaboration box have AES256-bit encryption and use wireless security protocols, WEP, WAP, WAP2, which is basically military-grade encryption and double what everybody else in the market offers. A dual network capability provides additional security with a separate LAN for employee and WiFi access for guest connections, while Pin Access in meetings keeps any unexpected guests out,” he added. This level of security is suitable for banks, insurance companies, along with the MOD, police forces and other sensitive public sector agencies and departments in both national and local government.
Summing up the benefits of the Vivitek AV and digital signage portfolio to channel partners and their customers, Andy said: “Vivitek’s full range is the stand-out solution for resellers to install, whether they are integrating a system into an existing infrastructure/set up or are starting from scratch. The product pricing is extremely competitive, with the range across all three product areas (projectors, screens and touchscreens) offering excellent value for money, with added features, premium build quality, simple installation and easy content creation. There is also a clear benefit for end users who are able to meet all their AV and signage needs with one solution, from one supplier, at an affordable price.”
At a glance
Andy highlights the key selling points of Vivitek’s core products:
“Vivitek’s projector range covers everything from 500 Lumens personal projectors up to professional projectors with 18,000 Lumens output, with a choice of lamp-based and laser models. Despite their attractive price, they are well built and loaded with enhanced features you’d expect from more expensive models. One useful feature is the optional app that enables administrators to turn them on and off and change settings remotely.”
“Vivitek’s interactive touchscreen displays compete at an attractive entry level point, yet still have higher end features such as metal bezels and a free wall mount bracket. With a sub-£1,000 price tag for a 65-inch model, there is scope for resellers to make good margins. Digital Whiteboard functionality is ideal for note-taking, annotation, highlighting and saving notes and don’t forget the built in wireless collaboration and signage functionality.”
“Vivitek’s 4K, UHD, high brightness, non-touchscreen range has an impressive array of built-in features, minimising the need for expensive attachments – a big benefit for the VARs who prefer to keep things simple and at a good price. The screens are adaptable and can be configured for a multitude of uses, including support for popular video conferencing apps for today’s hybrid meetings, or signage displays in a reception area, foyer, classroom, waiting room or other public area.”
