Integrated Systems Europe 2018 (ISE), the world’s largest trade show for the professional AV and electronic systems industry, took place February 6-9 in Amsterdam. As always, there was much to see. Here are some highlights

4K/UHD large format display

NEC Display Solutions Europe unveiled its latest range of 4K/UHD large format displays. The MultiSync P and V Series are available in four sizes from 65 to 98 inches and feature High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities for a rich, lifelike viewing experience in all lighting conditions. The P Series has a brightness output of 700 cd/ m2, ideal for bright conditions, while the V Series has a brightness of 500 cd/m2 for normal light levels. The displays feature the latest anti-reflective surface coatings and can be installed in portrait, landscape or table mode.

Avocor chose ISE to announce that it will be offering Avocor displays pre-installed with conferencing software from Zoom Video Communications. Designed to run on large touch displays, Zoom Rooms for Touch features wireless content sharing and high-quality video and audio conferencing for up to 500 interactive video participants. The bundles will be available in a choice of sizes and prices to suit each customer’s needs.

Beyond 4K

Panasonic made a number of announcements at ISE. In addition to several new projectors, it unveiled the six-strong EQ1 series of 4K professional displays for shopping centres, showrooms, meeting rooms and classrooms. The displays range in size from 43 to 86 inches and feature an integrated USB media player.

Modular digital signage solution

Advantech was showcasing the DS-200 modular signage solution for all-in-one applications. The DS-200 is based on the Intel SDM specification and is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core processors. It measures just 175 x 100 x 20mm and delivers 4K UHD output and smooth content streaming via a card edge connector. It boasts high-energy efficiency of 45 watts.

The new model joins the original ClearOne Ceiling Microphone Array and offers systems integrators more options in their system design. 

ClearOne expanded its ceiling microphone line-up with the ClearOne Ceiling Microphone Array Analog X. Like all ClearOne Ceiling Microphone Arrays, it features three wide-range microphones mounted together into a single array. In this way, it provides the rich sound of three individual uni-directional microphones plus full 360-degree coverage. Useful features include numbered mic elements for easy identification, an LED indicator for On/Off/Mute and the ability to daisy chain up to four arrays in a 12 microphone system. The ClearOne Ceiling Microphone Array Analog X can be installed anywhere from 0 to 7 feet from the ceiling.

Simultaneous casting

DVDO was showcasing the TILE system, designed to simplify wireless connectivity to an existing display. The free-to-use app lets multiple users display content, including any desktop, app, video or image, on a shared screen. Up to five TILED windows can be displayed simultaneously. A Moderator mode lets a supervisor approve and queue casted content before it is shown. The TILE system has five HDMI inputs, including an HDMI 2.0a 4K pass through; 2 USB inputs; and 2 HDMI mirrored outputs.

Philips Professional Display Solutions has brought more power, speed and flexibility to its Q Line with the addition of UHD displays based on the Android OS. The new models are available in 49, 55, 65, 75 and 86-inch versions and feature direct LED backlights for better contrast and brightness.

Seamless installation

Optoma showcased its new range of 4K UHD, Full HD and custom LED displays for boardrooms and conference centres. Supplied with cables and pre-configured processors, the ultra-thin LED displays offer easy set-up and direct mounting to any suitable wall without the need for a mounting frame. Front access ensures low-cost installation and easy maintenance.

First 4K 3LCD projector


Among a slew of new projectors announced by Epson was the LightScene EV-100 Series dual-purpose spotlight and laser projector for retail showrooms and shop windows, museum exhibits and art installations. The 2,000 lumen WXGA projector is ideal for displaying information, video, moving patterns or imagery projection mapped onto small objects. A new type of projector for Epson, the EV-100 offers a variety of mounting options, including attachment to a lighting rail.

Modern meetings

Visitors to the Samsung stand were given the opportunity to try out the new Samsung Flip interactive display. A modern take on the office flip chart, the 55-inch display comes with a movable stand and can be configured in portrait or landscape orientation. The combination of a UHD display and Passive Pen provides a natural writing experience and easy erasure by wiping the screen with your hand.
