Meet the 2Connect of the Future

Supercharging growth in partnership with inovo

Ali Mohsin, Growth & Strategy Director at 2Connect Digital Solutions, explains how the company plans to supercharge its growth – and outlines what resellers can look forward to seeing at its new product launch event on November 1

It’s all change at 2Connect Digital Solutions as the network connectivity provider previously known as 2Connect Data Services prepares to supercharge its growth with an expanded product offering, new branding, ground-breaking partnerships, and a new management team with more than 100 years of combined experience in connectivity and unified communications.

The company’s growth drive started in February with the appointment of Ali Mohsin (Pictured) as Sales & Strategy Director to lead its evolution from a one-product company, selling just leased lines to enterprises and service providers, into a multi-product company with an expanded product offering for existing customers and the reseller community.

2Connect Founder and Commercial Director Paul Botham believes Mohsin is the right person to take 2Connect on the next stage of its development.

“I have known Ali professionally for over 10 years from his time at Vaioni Wholesale and Wavenet. With his experience of Tier 1s and MSPs and his knowledge of 2Connect, Ali is the ideal person to accelerate our growth plans and effectively create a 2Connect 2.0, built on strong vendor partnerships and eye-catching products that give resellers a competitive advantage at a time of huge change and opportunity in the channel. Mohsin adds that now is the perfect time for 2Connect to put its growth strategy into practice.

“There are so many things happening in our industry and the broader market right now that play to 2Connect’s strengths.
The post-pandemic world is completely different to the pre-pandemic world, with remote working, hybrid working and greater acceptance of the cloud and hosted solutions, all of which are driving demand for bandwidth and stable, reliable connectivity. Then, there is BT’s big switch- off in 2025, which is causing a huge number of businesses to seek alternative connectivity and digital solutions. With our new offerings, 2Connect is well placed to meet existing customers’ demand for additional services and to capture new business in a changing market landscape.”

As part of its growth strategy the company is expanding its product offering in three main areas:

1 Connectivity – including a 1Gb fibre leased line for just £129 (see box);
2 Cloud Telephony – including Hosted Voice (2C HV), developed in conjunction with BT and available to resellers on a white-label basis, if required, and 2Connect Teams Voice (2C TV) which enables external calling on Microsoft Teams; and
3 Cloud Contact Centre – the 2Connect Contact Centre (2C CC) sourced through an exclusive UK distribution agreement with INOVO, under which 2Connect will provide a UK interface for the South Africa-based cloud contact centre vendor and a service wrap for customers and reseller partners.


Connectivity – 1Gb Fibre for just £129!

Building on its leased line heritage, 2Connect has established an SD- WAN team and is continuing to provide connectivity via its own fibre network. Created through strategic relationships with Tier 1 partners like Openreach, BT Wholesale and Neos Networks, this currently covers over 12,000 postcodes in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Leicester.

“The beauty of this network is that it’s not something we’re rolling out. The network is already in place; we are just utilising existing Tier 1 infrastructure in a particular way so that it has become possible for us to launch a 1Gb leased line for as little as £129.

“With FTTC, ADSL2+ and PSTN going, everybody is pitching FTTP
and SOGEA. We feel there is a gap in the market for SMEs that require business-grade connectivity but don’t have the budget for a traditional leased line. At £129, our 1Gb leased line is not as cheap as a typical SoGEA or FTTP connection, nor is it as expensive as a leased line. We feel it will be quite disruptive because even the altnets, which are considered to be very, very competitive, can’t hit those sort of price points.

“We’ve not reinvented the wheel. All we’ve done is utilise existing infrastructure, productised a competitive offering and established a route to market that complements resellers who serve the SME and mid-market customers and who typically don’t have big budget to spend on connectivity.

“2Connect Metro is Ethernet-delivered, Ethernet-based, meaning it has the same SLAs as a leased line, and it is delivered as guaranteed, uncontended bandwidth. The launch of our 2C Metro 1Gb fibre leased line for just £129 will, I think, be ground-breaking.”

2Connect has created a separate fibre network in London, 2Connect Capital (2C Capital), that integrates disparate altnets within the London area under one procurement process, one SLA and one price point. In Central London, the 2C Capital 1Gb fibre leased line, running off 2Connect’s own core infrastructure, is available for just £199.

The big reveal

2Connect will be unveiling its product portfolio at a special launch event in Birmingham on November 1 (see details above), where customers can gain first- hand experience of the new products sourced through partnerships with BT Wholesale and INOVO.

Mohsin says he is particularly excited about the 2C CC offering: a) because the contact centre marketplace is so margin- rich; and b) because he feels INOVO has qualities that will enable it to standout in the UK market.

“We were already aware of the great work INOVO had done with some of our joint customers outside the UK – some of the conglomerates who took international connectivity from us. We also know from the many contact centre deals we have completed in the past that there are still issues that existing vendors are unable to solve, and that gave us food for thought.

“Having spoken to INOVO, having seen their proposition, having seen their ability to bespoke contact centre, we are now developing messaging around that unique ability INOVO gives customers to build their own contact centre based on their specific requirements.”

There is already huge interest and I know the journey ahead is going to be very, very rewarding for all concerned.”

to come.

“This is just the start. In the coming months, we are introducing a new website; we will be launching our 2Connect Wholesale offering and a partner portal; we will be announcing new members
