Banking expert to lead Econocom UK Econocom Group, a provider of financing and digital-as-a-service solutions supplied on a subscription basis, has appointed Frances Weston as Managing Director of its UK division. Weston, who also heads the EMEA Advisory Council to the Board of 100 Women in Finance, has 15 years’ experience in the banking industry, most recently at Barclays where she was Director – Head of UK & Offshore Corporate Investments. Before that she worked at Scotia Capital and Bloomberg Tradebook. Weston replaces Chris Labrey, who is leaving Econocom after 22 years at the company.
CloudM appoints new Commercial Director
CloudM has recruited Nick Miles as its new Commercial Director as it seeks to double turnover in each of the next three years. Miles joins the Manchester-based cloud software specialist from identity and access management company Okta, where he was regional alliance director and in charge of the company’s EMEA channel and partner business. Before that, he spent 13 years in various roles in the software industry and 14 years in the Royal Navy as a tactical warfare specialist. At CloudM, Miles will be responsible for increasing worldwide sales and strengthening the company’s presence in the software as a service (SaaS) market.
AMX specialist for Midwich
Midwich, the only distribution partner in the UK & Ireland to offer the full range of AMX products, has appointed Alister Smith as AMX Business Development Manager UK. Based at Midwich Group’s newly opened Innovation House showroom in Bracknell, Smith will play a central role in growing the brand in the UK.
New head of print at Tech Data Former Dell Business Manager Chris Bates has taken over as Tech Data Business Unit Manager for Print and Supplies, replacing Stephen Martin, who has taken up the post of Head of Sales at Tech Data’s specialist audiovisual business Maverick AV Solutions. Commenting on his new role, Bates said: “We have an opportunity to take Tech Data’s print and supplies business to a new level. Tech Data is one of the biggest channel suppliers of print devices and supplies; we have a fantastic and very experienced team and an amazing set of tools – not least the excellent supplies configurator – that delivers tremendous value for our customers.
Tisski strengthens marketing function Technology consultancy Tisski has appointed a Head of Marketing and Communications to support its rapid growth after almost doubling turnover to £8 million last year and increasing its headcount to 100. Fiona Harvey has over 20 years’ experience, most recently in developing communications strategies for MAG (Manchester Airports Group) and the MoD (Ministry of Defence). Prior to that she spent 11 years with Thales Group, rising to Director of Communications with a seat on the UK Management Board. Established in 2011, Tisski is a Microsoft Gold Partner and provider of Microsoft cloud solutions spanning the Dynamics 365 suite.
Enhanced channel support at Toshiba TEC
Toshiba TEC is enhancing its support for partners with the appointment of two new Business Partner Managers. Chris Mills, formerly marketing manager for the MFP Indirect channel at Toshiba, is taking on the role of Business Partner Manager for Toshiba’s Multi-Function Printer (MFP) business, while Martin Smith is taking on the same role for its barcode printer business, focusing on partners in the North of England and Scotland and on developing the barcode channel north of the M62.
Kevin Taylor joins Indigo Telecom Indigo Telecom Group Limited, a UK-based provider of telecom and data centre network support services, has appointed Kevin Taylor MBE, erstwhile President of Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Turkey at BT, as Group Chairman. His expertise in emerging markets, investor and government relations and in early stage ventures, honed during a 25-year international career, will serve Indigo well as it targets further expansion.
