Ene to head BNP Paribas 3 Step IT joint venture
Carmen Ene, CEO of 3 Step IT since 2015, has been given the additional role of CEO of BNP Paribas 3 Step IT, as the joint venture between BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions and 3 Step IT aims to become Western Europe’s leading provider of Technology Lifecycle Management solutions. Set up in 2019, BNP Paribas 3 Step IT plans to extend its operations in the UK, Netherlands. France, Italy, Germany and Belgium to a further five European countries.

John Lam to launch Bamboo Distribution buyback scheme

Mobile handset buy-back pioneer John Lam has joined Hertfordshire-based Bamboo Distribution as Head of Global Buyback, to establish a new global buyback scheme. As co-founder of Mazuma Mobile, Lam launched the first online mobile buyback company in 2006, before selling it to EcoAsia in 2018. Bamboo Distribution Managing Director Juney Mistiki said: “After we launch in the UK this year, John will support Bamboo in introducing our Buyback Platform into several international countries within our 18-month plan. These include Germany, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus and Israel. Our goal is to be trading in 100,000+ handsets a month by 2022.”

SentryBay expands leadership team
Security protection software company SentryBay has appointed Jamie Box as Vice President of Global Sales and Ivan Blesa as Chief Product Officer. Both have extensive cyber security experience. Box joins SentryBay from Exclaimer, where he was Head of Global Sales, having previously held senior sales roles at cyber-security start-up Noble CSS, Metalogix Software and VIPRE Security. Ivan Blesa also previously worked at Noble CSS and, before that, at Secgate and Clearswift.

Rick Yates

Yates to drive EMEA growth for Axcient
Axcient, a provider of business availability software for MSPs, has appointed Rick Yates as Managing Director of EMEA. Previously MD of Zedsphere, a specialist distributor of cloud-based technology products for MSPs, Yates will report to Axcient CEO David Bennett. Yates said: “MSPs consistently tell us that when it comes to security they want products that are easy to use, reliable and well supported. First female engineer for Airband
Worcester-based rural broadband firm Airband has appointed its first female engineer, 25-year-old Sophie Crook. One of six new trainees being taken on by the company, Crook will join a team of 45 engineers based in Worcester and Devon. She said: “I’m really excited to have been selected to train as an engineer with Airband. It’s also an honour to be the first female engineer on the team. I hope I can be an inspiration to other women.”

MSP furthers ambitions with new recruits
OryxAlign, aiming to be in the top 5% of MSPs by 2023, has expanded its senior leadership team with the appointments of Jon Blagg as Head of Managed Services and Erika Wilkins as Head of Professional Services. Blagg, with 20 years of IT Operations and Service Delivery experience at CSC, EDS, HPES, VWG UK and Whitbread Plc, will be responsible for the performance of the company’s Managed Services division, including the Service Desk, NOC and Service Delivery teams. New head for CyberGuard SOC
Kidderminster-based CyberGuard Technologies, an independent cyber security company within the OGL Computer Services Group, has appointed Sean Tickle as Security Operations Centre (SOC) Manager to expand its recently launched 24/7 SOC support service. Kenobi takes on new apprentices
Kenobi Technology Solutions Ltd has taken on two new apprentices to cope with the growing demand for its B2B IT hardware, including servers, desktops, laptops and screens. Joining as Junior Account Managers under the company’s 12-month apprenticeship scheme, 18-year-old Sam Terry and 20-year-old Grace Madeley will assist Kenobi with IT sales and distribution throughout the UK. They will be managed, trained and supported by Managing Director Glen Taylor as they develop their knowledge and experience of the IT industry and technology products.

Kelly awarded Honorary OBE
Tom Kelly, Chairman of global channel services provider Agilitas has been awarded an honorary OBE for his services to the information and communications technology sector. The award was presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, David Briggs MBE, during a ceremony at Tatton Park. Kelly has helped shape and grow many successful technology businesses in the past 30 years, including Logicalis, which under his stewardship became one of the UK’s leading systems integrators and managed service providers. Kelly joined Agilitas as Chairman in 2015.
