Recent Industry Appointments contd.

Advanced makes third board appointment in 12 months  UK software and services provider Advanced is underpinning its growth plans and transition into an international cloud software and services business with its third board appointment of the last 12 months. Following the appointments of Simon Short as Chief Operating Officer in January 2021 and Narinder Sahota as Chief Technology Officer in September 2021, it has now announced Richard Kerr as its new Chief Financial Officer. Formerly CFO for Dennis Publishing and Guardian Media Group, Kerr brings valuable international M&A experience to Advanced from his time at UBM (now part of Informa) where, as CFO UBM EMEA and Head of Group Development, he completed over 70 M&A transactions. Advanced CEO Gordon Wilson said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Richard to Advanced at a point where we are looking for significant double-digit growth and international expansion. Richard’s global experience will play a valuable part in that strategy along with his M&A experience.” Kerr is taking over from Andrew Hicks who joined Advanced in 2015 and played a significant role in securing re-investment from Vista Equity Partners and new investment from BC Partners in October 2019, which has fuelled an acquisition portfolio of 17 companies.

Patrick Aronson appointed Westcon-Comstor CMO  Westcon-Comstor, the security, networking and hybrid cloud distributor, has appointed Patrick Aronson as Chief Marketing Officer to lead its global marketing strategy and drive the evolution of the company’s 130-person global marketing team with a focus on analytics, marketing automation and partner success. Aronson will continue to act as Executive Vice President in Asia Pacific, with responsibility for business performance across Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Before joining Westcon-Comstor seven years ago Aronson spent a decade leading Motorola’s mobile business in south-east Asia and five years as MD at Brightstar where he developed the company’s engagement strategy and mobility business.

Viewsonic targets edtech growth with new appointments  ViewSonic Europe has strengthened its focus on the UK education sector with the appointments of Ian Wedgewood as UK Strategic Relationship Manager and Ashley Holt as Sales Manager. Wedgewood and Holt have been active in the EdTech sector for more than 20 and 10 years respectively. UK Sales Director James Jepson said: “I’m delighted Ian and Ashley are working with us and I am looking forward to working and collaborating with them; they come at an exciting time and will add great value to our team.”

Chesters to add impetus to CloudM growth spurt  International digital workplace migration and management provider CloudM has recruited Rachel Chesters as its new Director of Marketing and Demand Generation. Recently shortlisted for a Made in Manchester Award 2022 in the Marketing, Advertising and Creative Professional category, Chesters has held a number of senior marketing roles, including Marketing and Communications Director for the Growth Company, a provider of ethical outsourced services, and Head of Marketing for cloud services provider Outsourcery plc, prior to its acquisition by GCI. CloudM has ambitious growth plans centred around a stronger focus on its Microsoft 365 offering and improvements to its all-in-one SaaS data management platform, which helps businesses get the most out of applications like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace by automating and remotely managing time-consuming tasks like IT admin, onboarding & offboarding, archiving and migrations.

Richard Timperlake joins Confluent   Richard Timperlake has joined Confluent as Senior Vice President EMEA Sales. Bringing deep experience in driving digital transformation and helping customers across industries succeed with modern technology, Timperlake was most recently SVP EMEA at Alteryx. Before that he held a variety of roles at Qlik, Splunk, Siebel and SAS. In his new London-based role, Timperlake will work with customers across EMEA to help them set their data in motion and deliver the customer experiences required to compete in today’s digital world. Commenting on his new role, Timperlake said: “Confluent is a categorycreating company that has set the industry standard in how brands use real-time data. I look forward to working with this talented team and culture to build on its success as we make the use of streaming data a competitive advantage for organisations throughout EMEA.”

Bizon to head newly integrated marketing and omni-channel teams   Samsung has promoted Annika Bizon to lead its newly integrated Marketing and Omni Channel teams. Bizon joined Samsung in June 2021 as Omni Channel Strategy Director of the Mobile eXperience (MX) division, after holding senior positions at 20th Century Fox and Three UK. In her new role of Marketing and Omni Channel Director for Samsung UK and Ireland, Bizon will be responsible for activity across online retail, call centres and marketing. Conor Pierce, Corporate VicePresident, Samsung UK & Ireland, said: “This is an exciting time for Samsung, building on 2021 successes including the launch of our Galaxy Z Series, an expanding product and Connected Services ecosystem and an industry-leading enterprise portfolio. Stellium Data Centres targets southern firms with new sales appointment  Newcastle-based Stellium Data Centres, owner of the largest purpose-built carrierneutral data centre campus in the UK (home to the UK’s newest Internet Exchange NCL-IX), is preparing to expand its business in the south with the appointment of Adrian Kennedy as Sales Manager for South of England. He joins from data centre and IT recovery services company Sungard Availability Services. Stellium’s Tier 3+ data centre campus has a guaranteed availability of at least 99.982%, is ISO-27001, ISO14001, ISO-9001, ISO-20000, ISO-22301, PSN Network and Cyber Essentials+ certified and has direct access to sustainable power. Custom services include cloud-based delivery of applications and services, colocation services and poweredshell data centres.

New key account manager for Vivitek   Vivitek has appointed AV professional Peter Miller as Key Account Manager, North England and Scotland. With 22 years of AV experience as a reseller and, for the last eight years, in Distribution, Miller will be responsible for promoting Vivitek and Delta Display solutions to the company’s reseller/ integrator partners and helping them win projects by providing product details, pricing and demonstrations of Vivitek’s Novo Ecosystem and Digital Signage solutions. Miller previously held positions at Exertis UK and Medium UK.
