New Synaxon role for Jones

Derek Jones has been appointed non-executive Chairman of reseller, MSP and dealer services group SYNAXON UK, after leading the group’s UK operations for more than a decade. In his new role, Jones will concentrate on deepening relationships between SYNAXON UK and its channel partners and members, as parent company SYNAXON AG expands the range of services offered to UK members and channel partners. Many of these will be announced at the SYNAXON UK Member Conference, taking place at Jury’s Inn hotel, Hinckley on June 20-21. Jones will continue to be a member of the managing board of parent company SYNAXON AG.

Westcon has appointed Stewart Legge as its Palo Alto Networks Vendor Manager. Legge has more than 30 years’ experience in security and partner management, including positions at Arrow, Forcepoint, IBM, Oracle and Sun. He said: “Westcon can now provide faster and better solution support to partners, from the increase in our dedicated Palo Alto Networks pre-sales team to three, all of whom are Palo Alto PSE qualified. Maverick strengthens leadership team

Tech Data company Maverick AV Solutions has strengthened its UK leadership team with the appointments of Anna-Marie Constantinou as Business Unit Director for the UK and Ireland and Wesley Joyce as Business Unit Manager. Anna-Marie joins Maverick AV Solutions from the Tech Data business Datech Solutions, where she helped implement a subscription sales model. She will work to bring Maverick’s core business and integration channel together with future solutions and technologies, including IOT and as-aservice models. As Business Unit Manager, Wesley Joyce will help execute business planning and go-to-market strategies for Maverick’s portfolio of manufacturers.

New MD at Glide

Midlands-based internet service provider Glide has promoted Director of Sales James Warner to Managing Director of its business arm. Warner moved to Glide in April 2017, following seven years at telecoms giant KCOM. In the last 12 months, Glide has doubled its headcount from 40 to more than 80 employees and tripled the extent of its fibre network, which now has 100,000 businesses within reach, up from 34,000 a year ago.

England joins Nuvias

Simon England has joined EMEA distributor Nuvias as CEO, replacing Paul Eccleston, who will take up the position of Executive Chairman of Nuvias Group, retaining responsibility for Vendor and Corporate Strategy. England was previously responsible for the development of new business segments and models for Tech Data, as SVP of Next Generation Technologies. Before that, as SVP of Value Added Business, he expanded the company’s Azlan, Datech and Maverick brands across Europe.

Recruiting for growth

Alec Stephens has joined digital transformation specialist Vapour as an account director. Alec has more than 15 years’ experience in the technology sector, including spells at ntl:Telewest (subsequently Virgin Media), Redcentric and Exponential-e. In his new role, he will be responsible for new business development, as Vapour targets sales growth of 50% in 2019.

New board member for Acora

Paul Renucci has joined UK-based IT services company Acora as a board member and Chief Sales Offcer (CSO). Paul has previously held senior leadership positions at Nortel, Damovo, KCOM and Juniper. Following his appointment, James Karp will move full time to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Acora delivers managed services and Microsoft-centric business software and cloud solutions to more than 200 mid-market companies from operations centres in Sussex and the West Midlands.


Sharp Europe fills new position

Sharp Europe has appointed Kai Thielen to the new position of European Marketing Director, reporting to Sascha Lange, European Vice President Sales & Marketing. Following positions at Sony and Bauknecht/Whirlpool, Thielen became Trade Marketing Manager at LG in 2003 and, in 2012, became Head of Integrated Marketing with overall responsibility for LG’s brand communication in Germany.

Tatarinov joins Acronis

Erstwhile CEO of Citrix, Kirill Tatarinov, has joined the Acronis board of directors to help drive the adoption of Acronis cyber protection solutions in the enterprise sector. Tatarinov has more than 30 years’ experience in the software industry, including 13 years at Microsoft, where he was president of the Microsoft Business Solutions Division (MBS).

Dayton bound for Vectra

Didi Dayton has joined Vectra as vice president of worldwide channels and alliances. In this role, she will be responsible for delivering the company’s cyber security products to solution providers and partners worldwide. Didi has previously held channel positions at Cylance, FireEye, Tanium, Websense, Symantec and Arrow Electronics.

New VP for EMEA Sales

Ruckus Networks has appointed Eric Law as VP of EMEA Sales to lead the company’s marketing, sales and operations throughout the region. He previously spent more than 17 years with Cisco before joining Purple to grow its worldwide sales operations from the ground up.

New role for Nipshagen

Akamai Technologies has appointed Hans Nipshagen, Managing Director of Akamai Benelux, as its new Head of EMEA Channels and Alliances. In this role, Nipshagen will be responsible for Akamai’s EMEA channel strategy and for growing Akamai’s regional partner programme.
