OBE for Tom Kelly
Tom Kelly, Chairman of global channel services provider Agilitas IT Solutions, has been awarded an OBE for services to the information and communications technology sector in Wales. Over the last 30 years, he has helped to shape many successful technology businesses, including Logicalis, where, as MD, he turned it into one of the UK’s leading systems integrators and managed service providers.
Exertis pro joins AOC
Cheryl Wheeler has joined AOC/MMD as its new Retail Sales Manager, having held managerial positions at UK distributor Exertis for more than two decades, including, most recently, that of Business Manager for Monitors. In her new role she will work with Dixons Retail, Amazon, John Lewis, Shop Direct, ao.com and other retailers.
New EMEA MD for UiPath
Leading AI and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) software company UiPath has appointed Gavin Jackson as its Senior Vice President and Managing Director EMEA. He joins UiPath from Amazon Web Service (AWS), where he was Managing Director for the UK and EU. Prior to AWS, Gavin held executive roles at VMware and EMC.
Chen takes on extra role
Entanet CEO Elsa Chen has supplemented her existing responsibilities with the newly created role of Chief Customer Officer for the CityFibre Group. In her new role, Chen will be responsible for delivering a unified customer experience across all the markets CityFibre serves. CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch said: “As we continue to deliver our Gigabit City investment programme, bringing full fibre access to over 20% of the UK market by 2025, this new role will bring clear executive focus to every aspect of customer value creation and drive customer-focused investment across our operations.” As CEO, Elsa led the management buyout of Entanet in 2014 and oversaw the transaction that brought the wholesale connectivity service provider into CityFibre Group in 2017.
Promotion for Mike Barron
Channel services group SYNAXON AG has promoted Mike Barron to Managing Director of SYNAXON UK. Previously Channel Director and Head of Purchasing, Barron has been with SYNAXON UK since 2014. In his new role, he will have overall responsibility for the execution of SYNAXON’s strategy in the UK and retain responsibility for vendor and member relationships and procurement. SYNAXON UK is a leading channel services group with more than 600 members and 50 supplier partners.
Avocor strengthens sales leadership
Collaboration display specialist Avocor has expanded its sales leadership team with the recruitment of Maureen Schmidt as VP of North America Sales and Glenn Wastyn as VP of EMEA. Both bring considerable industry experience to their roles. Schmidt began her career at Mitsubishi and has since undertaken various channel and executive sales roles at companies such as InFocus, NEC, Electrograph Systems and Optoma Technology. Wastyn has worked at Prysm and Barco, where he established the digital cinema business unit.
Maintel CEO ‘perfect fit’
Having previously worked with cloud and managed service specialist Maintel as a strategic business partner, Ioan MacRae, erstwhile Avaya MD for the UK and Ireland, is now joining the company as Chief Executive Officer. Maintel Chairman John Booth said: “Ioan is the perfect candidate to lead the next phase of Maintel’s development. He has significant experience in our sector and a track record of leading successful businesses through times of transition and high growth.”
New CMO at UKFast
Cloud hosting firm UKFast is aiming to build on impressive growth over the last 20 years with the appointment of Nolan Hough as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Hough was formerly Managing Director of Manchester Airport Group’s technology division MAG-O. He now takes on responsibility for managing UKFast’s in-house team of marketeers, event managers, designers, video producers and communications specialists and for building new agile development teams to design and deliver new product innovations.
Phelps to grow sales at Epson
After leading the recent revamp of Epson’s channel partner programme, which saw a 62% rise in partner numbers, Darren Phelps has been appointed Vice President of Business Sales within Europe, with responsibility for driving growth in sales of Epson scanners and business inkjet printers. Phelps said: “Our 100% commitment to the channel and simplified sales model, along with the cost-saving and environmental benefits of our technologies, make us a reliable partner for the channel, able to add value and offer support. My aim is to further strengthen these relationships, to drive growth for both us and our partners.”
Onecom adds M&A role
Business telecommunications provider Onecom has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Christian Craggs as its first Director of Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategy. Previously Managing Director at independent corporate finance firm Oakley Advisory, Craggs has also held senior positions at O2. Onecom recently secured a £100m funding package with which to pursue its growth strategy, including mergers and acquisitions. New Nutanix role for VanAgt
Having spent the last four years managing Nutanix channel sales in Southern Europe, Cyril VanAgt has been tasked with leading the company’s Channel and OEM activities in the whole of EMEA. In this role, VanAgt will oversee Nutanix’s go-to-market relationships with resellers, distributors, system integrators and technology partners in the region. In particular, VanAgt will be responsible for driving the Nutanix Channel Charter, a strategic initiative to strengthen the company’s relationships with the reseller community.
Drooms expands in UK
Secure cloud solutions provider Drooms is strengthening its presence in the UK with the appointments of Ditte Nielsen as Senior Business Development Manager and Alessandra Azzena as Business Development Manager. Reporting to UK Managing Director Rosanna Woods, they will be responsible for new customer acquisitions and the development of business relationships, with a focus on the UK real estate sector. Drooms virtual data rooms grant companies controlled access to confidential corporate data across company boundaries.
