Tech Data announces new partner services

In the last month, Tech Data has unveiled a number of new, enhanced or extended services for its reseller network, in the following areas: 

  • Recycling. Tech Data is extending its trade-in services and hardware recycling and refurbishment capabilities to include servers, storage, AV and networking kit, as well as mobiles, notebooks and desktops. Mark Glasspool, Services Director at Tech Data UK, said: “Sustainability and the goal of net zero carbon emissions have become high priorities for end-user customers, and IT equipment recycling can play a big part in helping them reach their targets. We have had the ability to take smartphones and all kinds of mobile devices and some desktops and displays for some time, and have now extended that so that we can offer a complete service that covers all brands of mobile and desktops, as well as servers, storage, AV and networking equipment.” Across Europe, Tech Data already takes in an average of 90,000 items a month for trade-in or refurbishment. 
  • Managed Print Services. Tech Data is making it easier for partners to develop a managed print services (MPS) offering with the launch of a dedicated, vendorneutral MPS programme with no targets or commitments. With OpenMPS, all the reseller needs to do is enrol on the programme, enter their customer details and install Tech Data’s Data Collector Agent (DCA) on the customer’s network. Tech Data will proactively monitor print devices, ship new supplies to the enduser customer directly and send consumption reports and invoices to the partner, who will then invoice the customer. OpenMPS covers the leading print brands represented by Tech Data – HP, Canon, Epson, Xerox, Brother and Lexmark – and offers partners the added benefit of special vendor terms.

  • Amazon Web Services. Tech Data is aiming to accelerate AWS reseller growth through its invitation-only AWS Trusted Partner Program (TPP), giving AWS resellers that have already made a clear strategic commitment to invest in and grow their AWS business access to additional resources, expertise and bespoke business growth planning. Commenting on the invitationonly programme, Rachel Paterson, Business Unit Manager at Tech Data, said: “The Trusted Partner Program harnesses Tech Data’s deep cloud business expertise and go-to-market capabilities in a structured program that gives partners a defined path to rapidly develop their AWS practices. We are really looking forward to welcoming our partners on to this transformational program and helping them to unlock the full value of their AWS solutions offerings.”
