Affordable interactive whiteboards
Panasonic’s new 4K direct-LED touchpanel displays, the 75-inch TH-75BQE1 and the 65-inch TH-65BFE1, come with up to 10-point touch and Whiteboard Software offering a whiteboard mode, PowerPoint presentation mode and Video and Screen Capture functions. The 400 cd/m2 displays also include a simple USB memory viewer to decode media stored on USB devices.
Longer lasting batteries
Vertiv, formerly Emerson Network Power, is using lithiumion batteries for energy storage on several of its Liebert Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. It claims that lithium-ion batteries designed specifically for UPS applications are smaller, lighter and last longer than traditional valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are initially compatible with the Liebert EXL S1 and Liebert Trinergy Cube solutions, and could soon be extended to Vertiv’s entire three-phase UPS portfolio.

Huawei has unveiled a new range of AIenabled smartphones. The HUAWEI Mate 10, HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro and PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 10 are powered by Kirin 970, the world’s frst AI processor for smartphones to have a dedicated Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU). Huawei says the NPU enables the phone to think and learn like a human brain and deliver a faster and more customised mobile experience. As an example, Huawei cites up to 300% faster translations and better object recognition and photo mode selection when taking pictures.
Three ‘push’ scan modes on Panasonic’s new network scanners (the KV-S10Y series) enable them to be operated with or without a PC or USB connection. Users who register their scanning requirements in advance can use the pre-set scan function to scan directly to an FTP server, SMB folder or email. The KV-S1058Y scans at 65ppm/130ipm and the KVS1028Y scans at 45ppm/90ipm.

Epson has launched the EB-1470Ui laser WUXGA interactive ultra-short throw projector as an alternative to flat panels in meeting rooms. It has a high-resolution display size of up to 100 inches and ultra-bright 4,000 lumens Colour Light Output (CLO) with a 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio. Useful features include a split-screen feature, providing two displays in one; finger-touch and dual-pen compatibility; content and screen sharing from mobile devices; and two HDMI ports and wireless connectivity.
