In the race to deliver next generation, gigabit-capable, broadband to the entire country by 2025 Network operator WightFibre has funding of over £100M from private equity and the UK Government to ensure the whole island benefits from this new ultrafast technology.
WightFibre is a network operator operating on the Isle of Wight, supplying broadband, telephony and TV packages to residential and business customers.
WightFibre’s objective is to ensure homes across the Isle of Wight benefit from this new ultrafast technology. To achieve this, they needed to engage a billing partner capable of providing a sophisticated billing platform to handle the complexities of ISP billing for their critical infrastructure.
PRD Technologies was invited to tender for the role of ISP billing software provider and has been awarded the contract.
“The first step to addressing the complexities of flexible ISP broadband billing is not only to identify existing challenges, but to also look to the future for what else might be required,” said Simon Adams, MD of PRD Technologies. “ISPs need the ability to diversify rapidly in the current market, due to the boom in hybrid and flexible working and the associated demand for fast and reliable broadband, flexible services, packages and bundles.
“Our team worked closely with WightFibre evaluating their current and future needs and developed a fully automated version of our ‘Intelligent Billing’ platform with API integrations with third party systems.”
The result is a system that requires zero manual input, saving time, resources and eliminating the margin for human error. The system automatically applies customer and billing data, charges to client accounts and associated products, as well as override packages, bundles, reporting and outputs to other systems.
Nathan Swallow, Head of Network Operations at WightFibre commented, “Being a local Island company means homes and businesses depend on us for uninterrupted internet access. WightFibre take that responsibility very seriously – but we don’t stop at simply providing some of the world’s fastest broadband.
“We want to deliver the best possible customer service to every one of our users on the Isle of Wight. Our ISP billing system needs to be reflective of those exacting high standards, maintaining total confidence in our capabilities.
“The innovative and flexible team at PRD has come up with intuitive solutions to solve the increasingly complex challenges we face as a telecommunications provider. We can’t recommend them enough.”
WightFibre are now generating 10,000+ invoices per month using the new ISP ‘Intelligent Billing’ platform, with scope to scale rapidly and seamlessly.
