Newcastle MSP expands its management team to support pivot to Microsoft Azure and growth objectives
Atlas Cloud, a leading UK-based specialist Managed Service Provider of managed cloud services and cloud hosting solutions, today announces the further strengthening of its Board of Directors and Senior Management team. The Newcastle-based company has appointed Mick Thompson as Non-Executive Director and Paul Butterworth as Head of Sales, as it marks its tenth year supporting businesses with leading cloud services.
Thompson is renowned in the North East for his successful career at KPMG and in particular his 22 years as Senior Partner, managing Newcastle and the surrounding areas. His current portfolio spans various non-executive roles across the region, including the Newcastle Building Society, Clinkards Group, Greggs Foundation Charity and NUFC Foundation. His passion about the North East, financing and regional growth will support Atlas Cloud in strengthening relationships with its clients, staff and stakeholders.
“I’m delighted to come on board with Atlas Cloud at what is a very poignant time in the company’s 10-year history. I was first drawn to the company’s ambitions of growing its North East roots and wide range of business portfolios. Cloud services are more important now than ever and we have a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the future success of the company, its people and the business it supports,” Thompson commented.
Butterworth joins Atlas Cloud with over 25 years of experience in senior sales and development roles at Microsoft, including two years as Director of Microsoft Azure Business Development. Whilst supporting Atlas Cloud customer acquisition and growth objectives, Butterworth will play a fundamental role in strengthening its position as a Microsoft partner, using his experience to establish the company as a leading provider of Microsoft Azure-based Windows Virtual Desktop solutions.
“Atlas Cloud has a strong ambition to not only grow, but deliver Azure-based technical services and expertise that help customers seize opportunities to create hybrid workplaces, improve productivity and drive success. Joining the company has come at a very exciting time and I look forward to drawing on my industry experience, to build valuable customer and partner relationships and support the vision for growth and development,” said Butterworth.
Atlas Cloud has also heavily invested in its wider management team in response to its continued growth and strategy. The company welcomed Steve Douglas as Service Excellence Manager, James Ramsey as Account Director and Lyndsey Falcus as Project Delivery Manager during the UK lockdown. Many of these roles were newly created due to recent company growth and the demand for cloud-enabled remote working and expert support that helps businesses to deliver the modern hybrid workplace. They also follow the appointment of industry heavyweight, Nigel Redwood as Chairman back in April 2020.
Pete Watson, CEO of Atlas Cloud reflects on how the year has transformed the business: “This year has been nothing short of unpredictable, yet our ambition to deliver best in class cloud-hosted solutions has remained the same. This has also brought some bold changes, including closing one of our two private data centres and migrating our efforts towards Microsoft Azure, so we’re extremely pleased to welcome our latest board and management team additions to help accelerate this transformation. Mick, Paul and the team share the same vision and will bring the knowledge and experience needed to advance towards our objectives for growth and stronger partnerships through a period of economic change.”
